Experience Wright's architectural gems in Buffalo, New York! You'll start with a tour of the magnificent Graycliff Estate (for up to 6 people). This significant historic site, with buildings and grounds designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and gardens and landscape designed by Ellen Biddle Shipman, was built between 1926 and 1931. You and a guest will then head up the road for a tour and overnight stay at the Martin House! The Martin House is characterized by its spatial openness, horizontal planes, pier and cantilever construction, and palette of natural colors and materials. It is considered one of the great achievements of Wright’s career. At the turn of the twentieth century, a young Darwin Martin commissioned "up-and-coming" architect Frank Lloyd Wright to design his family estate, the Martin House, located in the historic Parkside neighborhood in Buffalo. A decades-long friendship began, and Darwin and his wife Isabelle called on Wright again two decades later to build the family’s summer home, Graycliff, located just a short drive from the Martin House on the shores of Lake Erie. To commemorate your visit, you will take home a limited edition, buildable "brick" model of the Darwin Martin House and a sculpture of Nike of Samothrace. The Nike of Samothrace, also called Winged Victory of Samothrace, was admired by Frank Lloyd Wright. He placed a reproduction in the Martin House, Larkin Administration Building, and his own Home & Studio in Oak Park. This is certainly a bucket-list experience in the Empire State!
